The Polish Bureaucracy and the Implementations of EU Sturctural Funds

It is a very interesting to observe how the Polish governmental administration has evolved since the collapse of communism in 1989. Since the Polish civil service will ulmitmately carry out the laws and decrees of the executive and legislative organs of the Polish government, it is worthwhile understanding this part of the Polish government. A very large test will be how the bureaucracy implements the structural funds allocated to Poland since its accession to the EU in 2004. If the funds are wisely and carefully used, then the process of upgrading Poland's aging and poor infrastructure will likely be more cost effective.

Here is a database sources that I have found thus far.

Central and Eastern European Online Library. www.ceeol.com

This fulltext database contains thousands of journal articles in multiple languages which deal with cultural, sociological and political topics in Central and Eastern Europe, including the Diplomatic Review Journals of several countries in the region. It can be accessed from the U of I Library website.

  1. Central and Eastern European Online Library is definitely a useful resource for research about Eastern Europe.

Did you find any particular articles of interest?

In CEEOL, I searched for "Poland accession EU" and got a number of articles, although some were book reviews.
