Date: October 29,2009

Search Terms: "European Union Expansion"

The search yielded 34 different articles, ranging from numerous topics such as EU expansion in regards to Erasmus to the Lisbon Treaty. Each article provides interesting information but some of the articles that the search resulted in, are not related to EU expansion. Although there were some articles that did not provide much information, there is one worth mentioning.

One article in the November 10, 2007 edition of The Economist, entitled Post- Enlargement Stress; Charlemagne discusses the various issues that the European Union is now facing due to enlargement issues. The author focuses on the issue of expansion within the Balkan states and Turkey and states different opinions on the issue of whether or not the EU should expand to include both of these countries. The author ends on the note that many EU citizens are not feeling confident with the EU even though since the conception of the EU, member states have become more democratic and stable.
